Attorneys Mike Farris and Susan Morgan Farris man Farris Literary Agency, Inc., which represents fiction and non-fiction works. They are actively seeking fiction projects (thrillers, suspense, mysteries, mainstream, action/adventure, literary, Christian) as well as non-fiction (how-to, self-help, law, true crime, current affairs, popular culture, women’s issues, biography, history, travel, sports, politics, entertainment, spiritual and inspirational).
On the screenplay side, they are associate managers of AEI/Atchity Entertainment International in Beverly Hills, California.
The Farrises are regular presenters at writers’ conferences, including Pike’s Peak Writers Conference, The Screenwriting Conference at Santa Fe, State Bar of Texas Entertainment Law Seminar, Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc., Black Hills Writers Conference, DFW Writers Workshop, and Heart of Denver Romance Writers.
MIKE FARRIS has been a practicing attorney in Dallas, Texas, since graduating cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1983. Upon graduating in the top 10 percent of his class, and having served as an associate editor on the school’s Law Review, he was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Coif. He then practiced law for fifteen years with one of the largest law firms in Dallas and was named a partner after six years. He left the firm at the end of 1997 to pursue other interests, including literary interests. Mike is currently of counsel with the Dallas law firm Vincent Lopez Serafino Jenevein, P.C., where his practice includes complex commercial litigation, as well as entertainment law, focusing on the movie and publishing industries.
Mike is an adjunct professor at the University of Dallas in its Sports & Entertainment Management MBA program and serves on the university’s Sports & Entertainment Advisory Board. He is a past chairman of the Dallas Bar Association’s Sports & Entertainment Law Section.
Mike is also an award-winning screenwriter and a writer of non-fiction. In 2003, he collaborated with former ABC-TV anchorman Murphy Martin on Martin’s memoir of his years in journalism, entitled Front Row Seat: A Veteran Reporter Relives the Four Decades That Reshaped America (Eakin Press 2003). In 2009, he collaborated with Bob Hinkle to write Hinkle’s memoir, Call Me Lucky: A Texan in Hollywood for the University of Oklahoma Press (2009).
SUSAN MORGAN FARRIS earned a cum laude English degree, with a Communications minor, from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas. She also served as an editor and staff writer on the campus newspaper. She then obtained a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1983. In addition to practicing law, Susan has edited several non-fiction publications and consulted to screenwriters, novelists, and non-fiction authors. She has also taught college-level English and served as judge for screenwriting competitions. As an attorney, she has submitted manuscripts to publishers and screenplays to production companies. These submissions are the genesis of Farris Literary Agency, Inc.
